Hoover Library Schedules Resume and Interview Skills Workshop for December 7.
The Hoover library will present my workshop on effective resume preparation as part of a daytime session on December 7. This workshop is based on interviews with HR representatives from a variety of companies and educational institutions in Alabama. I asked five simple questions and received excellent practical answers about what employers want to see in a resume.
Do employers expect one-page resumes? Do they expect an "objective" paragraph at the beginning? What order do they prefer for information about the applicant? How important is accuracy? What about format? These questions and more about resumes will be answered in a fast-paced hour and a half workshop at the library.

July 8 AUM Business Writing Workshop Well Received
The July 8 workshop at AUM was well attended. We covered all the basics, from letter and e-mail format to sticky grammar and punctuation questions. Those who attended came from a wide range of businesses and state offices and asked some great questions.
The next session is now scheduled for October 7. IF YOU WANT MORE INFORMATION OR WOULD LIKE TO BE PLACED ON THE WAITING LIST FOR THE OCTOBER 7 WORKSHOP, please contact Brenda Ward at

This workshop is an ideal opportunity to remind yourself about business letter and e-mail format, correct use of commas and apostrophes, professional tone and usage, and pesky grammar rules like subject/verb agreement and parallel structure.
